Frequently asked questions.

What is QHHT?

Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) is a form of hypnosis developed by renowned hynotherapist Dolores Cannon. QHHT accesses the deep subconscious. The best possible overview I can give you is this page on the official Dolores Cannon website.

Why do you offer different types of quantum healing hypnosis sessions?

I facilitate pure, traditional QHHT as taught by Dolores Cannon. QHHT is an exceptionally powerful technique and requires close adherence to the protocol and must be conducted in person.

Beyond Quantum Healing (BQH) is a “sister” to QHHT and was developed by Candace Craw-Goldman, a student of Dolores and QHHT practitioner. BQH also accesses the deep subconscious, but allows for blending energetic modalities (such as Reiki or intuitive reading - nothing is off limits!).

BQH allows practitioners creative freedom in developing bespoke sessions as well as the ability to incorporate the use of technology to offer virtual sessions for clients who cannot or do not want to have an in-person session.

How do I know which session type to choose?

Contact me for a free consultation and we will talk through your unique situation to determine what will work best for you. Many clients find me via research on QHHT and choose to start there. BQH is a good choice for clients who would like to have a virtual session or who are interested in additional energy work with me.

I don’t think I can be hypnotized/I have tried hypnosis before and it didn’t work for me.

This works for everyone. Many clients have an inaccurate understanding of hypnosis. It is a natural state that you already experience at least twice a day - even the most analytical left-brainers among us! Let’s look at some science:

First, it’s helpful to have an understanding of the five types of brainwaves we experience.

  1. Alpha: Alpha brainwaves are associated with relaxed alertness and are typically produced when you are calmly resting, practicing mindfulness or meditation, or engaging in monotonous or engrossing activities (like driving or reading a good book). While we typically work in theta during quantum hypnosis sessions, subconscious work can be done in alpha, too.

  2. Beta: Beta waves are associated with active concentration, problem-solving, and cognitive activity. They are produced when you’re engaged in analytical thinking or actively processing information (like solving a math problem or puzzle). Gamma waves are also associated with higher mental activity, but you experience beta waves when you are engaged in analytical, logical processes.

  3. Theta: Theta waves are associated with creativity, relaxation, and REM sleep. They are produced during daydreaming, meditation, or when you’re feeling drowsy. You are in theta at least twice a day - when you are first waking up and when you are falling asleep. This is where we work in most quantum healing hypnosis.

  4. Delta: Delta waves are associated with deep sleep. They are produced when you are in a state of restorative, healing sleep. Subconscious work happens during this time, but we do not work in this state because you are fully asleep and unresponsive to conversation.

  5. Gamma: Gamma waves are associated with higher mental activity, including perception, problem-solving, and memory. They are produced when you’re engaged in complex cognitive tasks or experiencing high levels of mental clarity. Beta waves are also associated with higher mental activity, but gamma waves are in play when you are engaged with "creative, “out of the box”, big picture thinking.

We are aiming to work in the theta brain wave state. This is the place where your conscious mind is relaxed but you are not so sleepy that you can’t respond to me.

How do we get to theta? Firstly, you and I spend a lot of time talking so that you can “get it all out”. In the interview portion of our session, you will be telling me everything - your aches and pains, your relationships, your hopes and dreams, and your deepest fears and desires. This in itself is cathartic and many clients tell me they already feel much better before they ever lay down to begin hypnosis. Then, I will lead you through an extremely relaxing visualization that completely relaxes the conscious mind.

Aside from brain waves and understanding what exactly your brain is doing, it’s helpful to leave your expectations at the door. Every client is different in terms of how much they remember from a session or what information they receive in a session. Your session won’t be like anyone else’s, but it will be exactly the session you need.

I’m afraid of being out of control. Will anything happen that I don’t want to happen?

Good news. You’re completely in control! Your conscious and subconscious mind both operate in your best interest (as do I).

In a hypnosis session, we are essentially asking your conscious mind (also known as the monkey brain) to relax and allow us to go deeper into your subconscious. Your conscious mind is there to protect you, so our job is to make sure you feel safe so that it doesn’t need to jump in. We accomplish this through our extensive pre-hypnosis conversation and the relaxing induction. Your conscious mind is never far away, and that’s OK. It can listen in without interfering. It feels a bit like having your mom standing at the perimeter of the playground while you are playing with your friend. Mom is observing for your safety and only needs to rescue you if you are in peril. As long as she sees you are safe, she won’t intervene.

Your subconscious mind is all-knowing, and it only gives you exactly as much as you need and can handle. It works in your best interest, to give you access to information that will help you today. I, as the practitioner, cannot take you anywhere that you do not want to go.

How do I prepare for a QHHT/BQH session?

Once you book a session, I will send you an intake form and some simple instructions for preparing. Here are some good guidelines for anyone considering a session:

If you don’t already, begin meditating or journaling. There are many ways to do both, and neither must be a long affair. These are both excellent ways to begin accessing your subconscious.

Write out a list of questions you’d like answered, and a list of ailments of physical discomfort you would like healed. Some common examples: “What is my purpose here? What am I supposed to be learning? How can I be more financially stable? Did I know my spouse/child/parent in another life? How can I heal my back pain/cancer/chronic migraines?”

Pay attention to your dreams and try to take notes on them when you wake up in the morning. Our subconscious is working hard at this time sharing messages with us.

The night before and morning of your session, I recommend you engage in some light movement or exercise (a long walk is perfect, but anything that works for you is just as good) and avoid mind-altering substances and excessive caffeine.

For the session itself, I recommend watching QHHT Level 3 practitioner Suzanne Spooner’s video on tips to have a successful session

TL;DR: There is no need to have performance anxiety. Keep these tips in mind:

  • Visualize in as much detail as possible.

  • When I ask you a question, say the very first thing that comes to mind.

  • Talk, talk, talk!

What happens in an intuitive reading session?

There are two main session types requested: channeling a deceased love one, and seeking answers to big life questions.

In both cases, you and I will have a brief, complimentary consultation before booking to discuss your reasons for wanting a session. When we meet, I will help you relax and tap into my energetic abilities to connect with you and/or your loved one and engage in a conversation with you about the issues on the table. We may use multiple modalities or tools (like cards, crystals, candles, water alchemy…the list goes on) or none at all. Each session is unique to you.

I still have questions.

Contact me and I’ll answer them!
